We’re seeking a passionate Head Chef , with a love for Tasmanian produce and wine.

You’ll lead the kitchen and contribute to the overall flow and creativity of our restaurant and casual dining spaces. You will also play a key role in building strong relationships with local growers and drawing on these relationships to inspire seasonal menus that highlight the region’s best ingredients, reflecting Small Wonders’ commitment to sustainability and community-focussed experiences.
As our Head Chef, your role will be to:- Lead the creation of seasonal, Tasmanian grown menus that inspire guests and pair beautifully with our wines
- Ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency across all dining areas and events
- Maintain high standards in food safety, hygiene and kitchen operations
- Manage kitchen budgets, stocktakes, and supplier relationships
- Inspire, coach, and lead a positive, high-performing kitchen team
- Drive sustainable practices through waste reduction and local sourcing
- Ensure a consistent, high-quality guest experience across every service
- Proven experience as a Senior Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Calm, reliable and adaptable, especially during busy services
- Proactive approach to maintaining standards, cleanliness and safety
- Positive communicator who’s open to feedback and loves sharing knowledge
- Passionate about the world-class produce grown in Tasmania
- You’re committed to fostering a positive, caring kitchen

Overstory consists of Small Wonder in Tamar Valley, Tasmania and Wayfinder in Margaret River, Western Australia. We also work with likeminded producers from Europe and beyond, importing their wines into the Australian market, through our East‑coast based distribution business, Small Story Merchants.
