We are looking for a motivated and passionate Casual Commis Chef to join the PLG team at Sugar Gum Hotel in Hillside . Youll focus on basic food preparation tasks support experienced chefs and maintain a clean and organised kitchen. This opportunity is ideal for kitchen professionals ready to kickstart their career!

The venue boasts a spacious family bistro large kids areas to keep them entertained for hours plus a casual area referred to as the social the go-to spot for a pre-dinner cocktail or a casual catch-up with friends.

What will my duties include:- Prepare and cook menu as per cooking guidelines and set standards.
- Support senior chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks including food assembly and plating.
- Ensure food and safety procedures are being followed.
- Maintaining control and leadership in the kitchen during service times in allocated section.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workstation.
- The role you are applying for may be quite fast-paced and require you to complete tasks including but not limited to lifting boxes kegs or stock standing for long periods of time and utilising stairs.
- Hold a Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- Food Handlers Certificate.
- Experience working in a pub/bistro fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of fundamental cooking methods and recipe execution.
- Willingness to work various shifts including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
