WA TAVERN GROUP PTY LTD – Kwinana Town Centre WA
We are seeking an experienced and talented Chef/Sous Chef to join our lively kitchen team at the WA Tavern Group. As a Chef/Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing the day-to-day operations of our bustling kitchen. This is a full-time role based at our Kwinana in WA 6167.
What you’ll be doing as Sous Chef- Assisting the Head Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and inventory management
- Ensuring consistent, high-quality food presentation and adherence to health and safety standards
- Training, supervising, and developing the kitchen team to maintain a well-coordinated and efficient work environment
- Collaborating with the management team to develop and implement new menu items and improve existing offerings
- Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen workspace to meet the demands of a fast-paced environment
- Station Management: Oversee and operate a specific kitchen station (e.g., Sauté, Grill, Fish, Pantry, Pastry).
- Food Preparation: Prepare, cook, and plate dishes for their section, ensuring quality and presentation.
- Supervision: Delegate tasks and supervise junior chefs (Demi-Chefs, Commis Chefs).
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain strict food hygiene, health and safety standards (HACCP, food safety laws).
- Stock & Portion Control: Manage inventory, monitor food waste and control portion sizes to maintain profitability.
- Menu Contribution: Assist Head Chef/Sous Chef with new dish development and menu creation.
- Operations: Ensure the station is stocked and ready for service, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Chef/Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry
- Strong culinary skills and a deep understanding of various cooking techniques and food preparation
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a proven track record of motivating and developing kitchen staff
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to effectively liaise with the management team and address any issues that may arise
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
