We are seeking a qualified and committed Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team and support our growing operations.
Position OverviewThe Chef will be responsible for planning, organising, and supervising the preparation and cooking of food in a busy dining environment. This role requires strong culinary skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen, and a passion for maintaining high food standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Menu Planning & Cost Management- Planning menus and ensuring dishes align with restaurant standards
- Estimating food and labour costs for menu items
- Ordering and managing food supplies to ensure stock availability
- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to high standards
- Monitoring the quality of dishes throughout preparation, cooking, and presentation stages
- Freezing, storing, and preserving food in line with hygiene and safety regulations
- Explaining, implementing, and enforcing food hygiene and safety standards
- Ensuring kitchen cleanliness and proper equipment handling
- Maintaining compliance with all health, safety, and food handling regulations
- Discussing food preparation matters with Managers, Dietitians, kitchen staff, and waiting staff
- Demonstrating culinary techniques and advising staff on cooking procedures
- Assisting in the selection, training, and supervision of kitchen staff when required.
To be considered for this role, candidates should ideally have:
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) Or relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
Proven experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar food service environment.
