Chef Position – Winchelsea Hotel

Location: Winchelsea, VIC

Winchelsea Hotel is seeking a skilled and professional Chef to support our busy kitchen and deliver consistently high-quality meals. In this role, you will prepare and cook menu items, maintain excellent food standards, assist with menu development, and ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong culinary skills, good time management, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while upholding our commitment to warm hospitality and quality dining.

Benefits

Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 per Annum + Superannuation.

Task & Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and present menu items to a consistently high standard.
• Ensure food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and hotel standards.
• Oversee food quality, portion control, and presentation for all dishes.
• Assist in menu planning, daily specials, and incorporating seasonal produce.
• Manage stock levels, monitor waste, and maintain cost-effective kitchen operations.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to support smooth service during peak times.
• Train, guide, and support junior kitchen staff where required.
• Adhere to WHS, hygiene practices, and food safety protocols.

Qualification & Experience

• Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a Chef.
• Diploma in Hospitality along with Certificate IV in Kitchen Management.
• Sound knowledge of Australian dining expectations.
• Strong understanding of food safety, handling, and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work under pressure while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as rostered.
