CHEF – FULL-TIME POSITION

Springsure Overlander Motel is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our busy regional hospitality venue. We provide hearty meals for locals, travellers, contractors, and corporate guests and require a professional chef who can manage kitchen operations and deliver consistent quality.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position where you will be responsible for menu execution, stock control, kitchen hygiene, and supervising junior staff. You will assist in menu planning and support daily service across breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Key Duties (as per ANZSCO Chef Classification)- Planning menus in consultation with management, considering seasonal produce and customer preferences
- Preparing and cooking meals across all sections of the kitchen
- Monitoring food quality, taste, portion control, and presentation at all stages
- Estimating food and labour costs, ordering supplies, and monitoring stock
- Training, supervising, and mentoring kitchen staff
- Enforcing kitchen hygiene, HACCP, and food safety compliance
- Ensuring adherence to dietary needs and special orders where required
- Collaborating with management on specials, service improvements, and new dishes
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, reporting maintenance needs
- Freezing and preserving foods to ensure stock continuity
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or higher qualification) – Mandatory
- Minimum 1 year of industry experience as chef
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Ability to work independently and supervise kitchen staff
- Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask during peak service periods
- Full-time – 38 hours per week
- Salary range: $75,000 – $90,000 per annum + superannuation
