SummaryOur client Esplanade Bar, located on Scarborough Beach, is a vibrant dining destination known for fresh, flavourful Thai and South‑East Asian cuisine and friendly service. Our client is seeking to add a skilled Chef to support its busy lunch, dinner and takeaway operations, delivering consistent quality, efficient service and memorable dishes while maintaining strong food safety, teamwork and kitchen standards.
Responsibilities- Preparing, seasoning and cooking menu items in line with established recipes and presentation standards
- Inspecting and selecting fresh ingredients to ensure quality, freshness and suitability for service
- Managing food preparation during busy lunch, dinner and takeaway service periods
- Monitoring cooking processes to ensure correct techniques, timing and consistency are maintained
- Assisting with daily kitchen organisation and efficient workflow during peak service times
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness at all times
- Coordinating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and timely dish delivery
- Contributing to menu consistency, particularly for signature Thai and curry‑based dishes
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting ingredient shortages or quality issues promptly
- Storing food correctly to minimise waste and comply with food safety regulations
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils and food preparation areas
- Assisting with preparation of banquet menus and group dining services when required
- Following workplace health and safety procedures within a fast‑paced kitchen environment
- Supporting senior kitchen staff with prep work and service coordination as needed
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management is essential, with Diploma qualifications considered advantageous
- Minimum one year of practical experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook Thai or Asian‑style dishes to a consistent standard
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene practices and kitchen compliance requirements
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills and willingness to work cooperatively within a small kitchen team
- Physical stamina and flexibility to work split shifts, weekends and public holidays as required
