Position: Full‑Time Chef
Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation
Il Posto is a well‑established Italian restaurant located in the heart of Paddington, renowned for its authentic Italian cuisine, wood‑fired pizzas, handmade pastas, and exceptional service.
We are seeking a qualified and passionate Chef to join our professional kitchen team and contribute to maintaining Il Posto’s reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, cook, and present authentic Italian dishes to Il Posto’s high culinary standards.
- Assist in planning, designing, and costing seasonal menus in consultation with the Head Chef and management.
- Ensure food preparation and service comply with all food safety, hygiene, and quality control regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering supplies, and manage portion and cost control.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and efficiency in all kitchen areas.
- Train, guide, and support junior kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality and workflow.
- Contribute creative ideas for new dishes, specials, and menu development.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a qualified Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Formal qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate IV or higher) – compulsory.
- Sound knowledge of Italian and modern Australian cuisine.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work across a rotating roster including weekends and evenings.
- Strong commitment to maintaining Il Posto’s high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.
