The Essendon Hotel is currently looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to food quality, hygiene standards, and teamwork. This role requires someone who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment while preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of dishes to meet customer satisfaction.

- Monitor and maintain the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and service.
- Discuss food preparation requirements and issues with Managers, Dietitians, and kitchen/waiting staff.
- Demonstrate techniques and provide guidance on cooking procedures to junior staff.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff where required.
- Manage stock rotation and preservation, including freezing and storing food.
- Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order necessary food supplies.
- Prepare and cook food to a high standard of taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Passion for high-quality food and attention to detail.
- Minimum of 1 year’ experience as a Chef.
