May Street Larder is a hugely popular café servicing East Fremont and surrounding suburbs. We are currently now looking for a Chef to join the youthful energetic kitchen crew. Employment Duties - Under the direction of the proprietors to work as a Chef including, but not limited to:
Responsibilities- Planning and changing our menu from time to time.
- Estimating and ordering ingredients and food produce on a regular basis.
- Examining ingredients and food produce to ensure and maintain freshness and quality.
- Training of kitchen or other staff in the kitchen.
- Explaining and ensuring compliance with relevant hygiene, and occupational safety regulations.
- Supervising (and where necessary, performing) and overseeing the kitchen operation including:
- Storing and maintaining the freshness of ingredients and food produce appropriately including freezing them.
- Preparing and cooking food and dishes on our menu.
- Seasoning and cooking of food and dishes to our restaurant standard.
- Portioning the serve for each dish.
- Plating and presenting of dishes.
- Cooking food to specific diners’ requirements or requests on occasions.
- Such other duties as may be incidental to the work of a Chef.
The successful candidate must have the minimum formal qualification to work as a Chef (by formal qualification or work experience). At least 2 years of work experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred. Must be able to work unsupervised.
