Paddock Bakery is on the hunt for a passionate and driven Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team in our fast-paced, high-volume café and bakery. About the Role:
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and Executive Chef to support all aspects of kitchen operations. You’ll be a hands-on leader, helping to deliver consistently high-quality dishes while ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently during service. You'll play a key role in upholding the reputation of Paddock Bakery as a destination for outstanding food.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations, including service, prep, and rostering
Lead and supervise the kitchen team during service, maintaining momentum and morale in a busy environment
Ensure consistent presentation, portion control, and quality of all dishes
Assist with the creation, testing, and implementation of new menu items and seasonal specials
Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination to minimise waste and maintain cost targets
Uphold food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining all relevant documentation and records
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional team culture
Step into the Head Chef’s role when required, ensuring continuity of standards and service
What You’ll Bring:
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
Proven experience as a sous chef
Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative approach
High attention to detail and an uncompromising attitude toward quality, cleanliness, and consistency
Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
A genuine passion for food, people, and hospitality
