Paddock Bakery is on the hunt for a passionate and driven Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team in our fast-paced, high-volume café and bakery. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic venues, where creativity, quality, and consistency are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role:

As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and Executive Chef to support all aspects of kitchen operations. You’ll be a hands-on leader, helping to deliver consistently high-quality dishes while ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently during service. You'll play a key role in upholding the reputation of Paddock Bakery as a destination for outstanding food.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations, including service, prep, and rostering

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team during service, maintaining momentum and morale in a busy environment

  • Ensure consistent presentation, portion control, and quality of all dishes

  • Assist with the creation, testing, and implementation of new menu items and seasonal specials

  • Manage stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination to minimise waste and maintain cost targets

  • Uphold food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining all relevant documentation and records

  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and professional team culture

  • Step into the Head Chef’s role when required, ensuring continuity of standards and service

What You’ll Bring:

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery

  • Proven experience as a sous chef

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative approach

  • High attention to detail and an uncompromising attitude toward quality, cleanliness, and consistency

  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment

  • A genuine passion for food, people, and hospitality
