Known for its fresh Mexican flavours, house-smoked meats and modern street-food offerings, the restaurant provides a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
The successful candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality dishes while supporting a dynamic kitchen team in a fast-paced environment. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and prepare menu items aligned with modern Mexican street food concepts
- Prepare, cook and season dishes ensuring consistent quality and presentation standards
- Monitor food quality throughout all stages of preparation and service delivery
- Manage stock levels, including ordering, receiving and proper storage of supplies
- Portion and plate dishes with appropriate sauces, garnishes and presentation detail
- Maintain temperature control of ovens, grills and refrigeration equipment at all times
- Prepare meals to accommodate special dietary requirements and customer preferences
- Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service operations
- Follow and enforce strict food safety, hygiene and workplace health regulations
- Assist in menu development, cost control and kitchen budgeting activities
- Train and support junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques and procedures
- Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance to improve team performance
- Handle food preservation processes including freezing and storage best practices
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment during all shifts
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Must hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent recognised qualifications
- Minimum one year of full-time experience working as a chef in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment, serving Mexican cuisine.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare, cook and present dishes consistently to a high professional standard under pressure
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations and safe kitchen operating procedures within a hospitality setting
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a busy and high-volume service environment
- Positive attitude with willingness to follow direction, learn quickly and contribute to a cohesive team culture
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and extended hours as required to meet operational demands
