Located in Frankston, Victoria, Ginseng Modern Asian Cuisine is known for offering a unique dining experience that blends modern Asian flavours with high-quality ingredients and contemporary cooking techniques. Operating throughout the week, the restaurant provides both dine-in and takeaway services, catering to a diverse customer base including local residents and visitors. Our menu features a variety of carefully crafted Asian-inspired dishes, and we pride ourselves on maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and customer service in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified and passionate culinary professional with strong experience in Asian cuisine and the ability to manage kitchen operations effectively. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining food quality, supervising kitchen staff, and contributing to the continued growth and success of the restaurant. Key Responsibilities: • Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of modern Asian dishes in accordance with the restaurant’s menu and quality standards. • Develop and refine menu items, ensuring authentic flavours, appealing presentation, and consistency in taste and quality. • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen assistants, to ensure efficient kitchen operations. • Monitor food preparation processes to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner and meet the restaurant’s standards. • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in compliance with Australian food safety regulations. • Manage stock levels, order ingredients and kitchen supplies, and ensure the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. • Inspect food preparation areas and kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness, proper functioning, and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements. • Train and guide junior kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and presentation standards. • Control food costs by minimising waste, monitoring portion sizes, and ensuring efficient use of ingredients. • Collaborate with management to improve menu offerings and contribute to the overall dining experience for customers. To be successful in this role, it is essential you have: • Hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent recognised qualification in the culinary field. • Possess a minimum of two years of relevant experience working as a Chef in a busy and professional kitchen environment, preferably within well-established or quality dining venues. • Demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory abilities, with the capability to train, guide, and effectively manage kitchen staff. • Have sound knowledge of Asian cuisine, including the use of spices, ingredients, flavour profiles, and traditional as well as modern cooking techniques. • Be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation standards. • Exhibit strong attention to detail, creativity, and a genuine passion for culinary preparation and food presentation.
