Responsibilities

  • Lead menu planning and design plating presentations to enhance dish appeal and customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate and assist kitchen staff to optimize workflow and maintain service efficiency
  • Hire and train kitchen personnel to ensure consistent preparation and cooking of menu items
  • Manage inventory by stocktaking ingredients and equipment, and placing timely orders to maintain supply levels
  • Enforce safety and sanitation best practices to uphold kitchen hygiene and regulatory compliance
  • Develop new recipes to innovate and refresh the menu regularly, aligning with industry trends
  • Monitor industry trends to incorporate relevant innovations into menu offerings
  • Collect and analyze feedback from restaurant staff and patrons to implement improvements and resolve issues
  • Communicate effectively with team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing kitchen environment
  • Maintain exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety under high-pressure conditions
  • Manage availability to work on-call, shifts, after hours, weekends, and holidays to support operational needs

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Qualification from a culinary school
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar position
  • In-depth knowledge of food principles and best practices
  • Passion for creating food that delights and attracts customers
  • Creative and innovative thinking
  • Experience managing inventories and stocktaking
